I read most of this book in a day, and it is a long one at over 600 pages. The character development was great and really has you rooting for the main character, Vis. I am constantly impressed by the worlds that authors spin up out of their heads but especially am for this book. The storyline is so complex, and the level of detail and analysis is amazing. It was interesting to consider how the society in the book reflects our capitalist society. I didn’t realize that the book is the first in a series so was disappointed when there were so many open questions left at the end, but I guess I’ll just have to keep reading the series. My one big complaint is that James Islington often uses commas as a way to make you pause in a sentence. Comma-happy writing really bugs me.
