Ben and I hiked the Pemigewasset (Pemi) loop in the White Mountains of New Hampshire after graduation in June 2022. The Pemi loop is a 31-mile loop with 9,700 feet of elevation gain through beautiful mountains, with walk-up campsites along the way. We spent two nights and three days on the trail. The weather was great the first day, and we took our time making our way to the first campsite, a platform with a great view of the sunrise. The next two days were quite rainy, limiting the views. We enjoyed a fun game of Bananagrams in Galehead hut, a hut that Appalachian trail hikers often stay in, and leaning into the strong wind on Franconia Ridge. The trails in the White Mountains are very rocky and steep which can make hiking harder on your knees and more tiring. The White Mountains are awesome, though, and I recommend this loop!
